NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a Connecticut man who sued Sandals Resort International and another company after he was seriously injured by a falling tree branch during his daughter's wedding at a Caribbean resort.

Judge Jeffrey Meyer in New Haven ruled Scott Herlihy couldn't sue Sandals and La Toc in the U.S. court because the court has no jurisdiction over the companies. Sandals is based in Jamaica and La Toc Holding in St. Lucia.

The Connecticut Law Tribune reports the Fairfield resident suffered injuries to his head, shoulder, spine and legs in June 2016 at Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Resort and Spa in St. Lucia. Meyer dismissed the lawsuit Tuesday.

Herlihy argued he could sue in Connecticut because Sandals has an advertising presence in the state.
