New Haven Connecticut

New Haven is located along the coast of Connecticut and is the second-largest city in the state. It was the first planned city in America, having been founded in 1638 by English Puritans. New Haven is home to Yale University, which is the city's biggest employer. And in fact, New Haven is known as the "Cultural Capital of Connecticut" because of its many arts venues and museums.

The Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University includes the Yale Babylonian Collection, founded by JP Morgan in 1910, the world-renowned Yale artifact collection, and the world's largest collection of ancient manuscripts.

The three-century-old Yale campus is a must-see, home to the Yale School of Medicine, Yale College, and Yale Law School. Founded in 1701, Yale University moved from Saybrook to New Haven in 1716 and is the oldest public university in the United States. The Yale Museum of Natural History, the world's largest collection of Yale artifacts and manuscripts, is part of the Yale Center for the Study of Humanities and Social Sciences.

New Haven Public Schools serve the district, and there are private school options as well. The city's high quality of life and academic attitudes foster a lively community of students, teachers, and staff.

Amtrak will take you to New Haven from Grand Central Terminal, and you can travel to or from New York. Airport shuttle service to and from New Haven is available; it can be provided at the airport terminal in New London, New Jersey, or in Hartford.

A subway connection between New Haven and New York City offers commuters a one-way ride. The service offers regular services to and from Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, New Jersey, and Boston's Penn Station, and it also connects major cities along the Northeast Corridor such as Hartford, St. Paul, Bridgeport, and Providence. New Haven itself is served locally by the New Haven Transit Authority, the state's largest public transportation system.

New Haven also has many famous pizza parlors, and it has been named Best Foodie City in the country by Livability.com. With more than 100 restaurants located near New Haven Green, this is the place to go if you're looking for a unique dining experience. New Haven even has its own style of pizza, which locals call "apizza." It's also custom to order a white clam pizza in some parlors.

The city is also home to Louis' Lunch, a small diner that claims to have invented the hamburger in 1900.
